How to Create a DigitalAsset
This guide explains how to add a new photograph or document to the system.
What is a DigitalAsset?
A DigitalAsset is a source such as:
- a photo
- a scan
- a letter
- an article
- a PDF
Each source gets its own page.
Step-by-step
Step 1 – Prepare your file
Make sure you have:
- the image or PDF ready
- good quality if possible
Step 2 – Create the DigitalAsset page
Open the DigitalAsset form.
Fill in:
- title or short description
- chapter
- place or organization
- any notes
Save the page.
The system will automatically generate an identifier.
Step 3 – Upload the file
Upload the file using the generated identifier as the filename.
Example:
CH03-ROM-0007.jpg
Step 4 – Link the file
Attach the file to the DigitalAsset page.
Step 5 – Done
Your source is now:
- stored safely
- documented
- searchable
- linked to research objects
Important tips
- one file = one DigitalAsset
- do not group multiple files together
- do not invent your own numbers
- keep descriptions clear and simple
